The MRC-funded INTEGRATE project is organising a online UK-wide Careers Event for Biomedical Data Science Researchers in Autumn 2026 and would like to invite early career computational/mathematical and statistical researchers working within biomedical data science in the UK to help with the planning and hosting of the event to ensure it's as relevant as possible for today's ECR community. The workshop aims to support the professional skill development of researchers navigating non-traditional and interdisciplinary career paths.

What does it involve? The event organisation logistics will be lead by the INTEGRATE project team, however we would like to involve the community to take an active part in a steering committee and act as a sounding board to shape the event and it's direction based on your experience and evidence gathered by other INTEGRATE projects activities. You would be required to commit approximately 5 hours of time between May and September 2026 to attend a monthly online committee meeting and would have the opportunity to attend and take part in the hosting of the event in Autumn 2026. Invited participants will hear from us by the first week of May.
Who are we looking for?
We welcome anyone at a UK research institution who performs data science, mathematical, statistical or computational research in a biomedical research field who is not yet a group leader or principal investigator. We aim to create a group that represents diverse voices across the biomedical data science ECR community (e.g. PhD students, post-docs, technical specialists and those in roles without PhDs or non-traditional backgrounds) to help make our event as inclusive as possible. Although places on our organising committee are limited, we will select participants to ensure the group represents a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
What's in it for me?
This is a chance to help drive the development of a session that meets your needs, and a great opportunity to gain experience in events organisation and execution. By joining our working group, you'll also get the chance to meet other biomedical data scientists across the UK to help build your network.
What is the INTEGRATE project and where can I find out more?
The INTEGRATE project is a MRC funded collaboration between the University of Oxford and HDRUK and aims to improve interdisciplinary collaboration and data science careers in UK biomedical research. If you have any questions about this opportunity, or about the INTEGRATE project in general, please don't hesitate to get in touch at integrate.imm.ox.ac.uk.
