Although there is a general consensus among the biomedical community that we should better support interdisciplinary careers, it can be difficult to know what this means in practical terms. Although many opportunities already exist within the community, researchers often struggle to find the right opportunities, or know which options might be most beneficial to them. To help answer these questions, the INTEGRATE team developed and distributed a UK-wide survey to the Biomedical Data Science community.
Survey Aims:
Understand more about who ‘biomedical data scientists’ are
Identify initiatives and actions that have:
Made data scientists feel supported and valued in biomedicine
Helped the integration of data scientists into the biomedical community
Supported the inclusion and career progression of those with computational, mathematical, statistical skills in UK biomedical research.
Gather information to shape future career development initiatives for those working in biomedical data science.
We received responses from 72 members of the population, spanning a diversity of roles and career stages. Survey analysis is underway and a report will be availble soon.
